Additions & expansions

More room — designed to feel like it was always there.

When the house you love has run out of space, the answer isn't always moving. We design and build additions that connect naturally to your existing home: matched rooflines, matched siding, and floor plans that flow instead of feeling bolted on.

Types of additions we build

Every project is scoped individually — this is the range of work we do well.

Room bump-outs

Extend a kitchen, living room, or primary bedroom a few feet — often the highest-impact square footage you can add.

Second-story additions

Double your living space without touching the lot lines. Includes structural review of the existing foundation and framing.

Kitchen & family room extensions

Push out the back of the house for the open gathering space most NJ colonials and ranches were never designed with.

In-law suites & ADUs

Self-contained living space for family — designed for privacy, accessibility, and resale value.

Dormers

Turn a cramped attic or Cape Cod upper level into real bedrooms and baths with headroom to spare.

Garage additions

Attached garages and garage-to-living conversions, tied into the home's structure and style.

A new company, held to an old standard.
Aurum Standard is new, and we're upfront about it. What we offer instead of decades of history: a clear plan before a number, honest communication at every stage, and finished work we'd put our name on — because it carries it.

How an addition runs

No black boxes. You always know what is being decided, what comes next, and where the budget stands.

  1. 01Walkthrough & goalsWe start by listening — how you live, what frustrates you, what the finished space needs to do.
  2. 02Clear planDesign coordination, material selections, and a defined scope before any number is discussed.
  3. 03Honest proposalA detailed, line-item proposal. No vague allowances, no surprises buried in fine print.
  4. 04Permits & scheduleWe handle the township paperwork and give you a real schedule — then keep you posted as it moves.
  5. 05Build & walkthroughClean jobsite, steady communication, and a final walkthrough where the punch list goes to zero.

Addition questions, answered

Straight answers. If your question isn't here, ask us directly.

How much does a home addition cost in New Jersey?

In NJ, additions typically run $200–$400+ per square foot depending on what's being built — a simple bump-out costs less per foot than a second story with new bathrooms and kitchens. After evaluating your home and goals, you'll get a detailed proposal, not a per-foot guess.

How long does an addition take?

Plan on 4–8 months from signed agreement to completion for most additions, including design, engineering, permits, and construction. Second stories and complex projects can run longer.

Will zoning or setbacks be a problem?

Maybe — and we'd rather find out before you commit. We check your lot's setbacks, coverage limits, and height restrictions during planning, and handle variance applications if the design needs one.

Can you match my home's existing exterior?

That's the whole point. We match siding, brick, roofing, and trim profiles so the addition reads as original construction — not an afterthought.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes — Aurum Standard LLC is a licensed NJ Home Improvement Contractor (#13VH14291800) and insured.
